1st post

I will hopefully post on a weekly basis in the future but i have just come up with this idea whilst laid contemplating what im going to do over the coming months to keep my mind active..I spent 2 hours earlier today just writing my thoughts into my phone so will post them over the coming days. I hope i can give people a good insight into the gruelling world of football at times and also this is a bit of self therapy in the sense of putting my thoughts into words and it will be good for me to look back on in the future when i beat this injury and come back stronger for this experience physically and mentally.

  2. Chris,

Very sorry to hear about your injury, I am a very close friend of Marius Niculae who also played for ICT, Marius suffered the same type of injury twice and on one occasion had to go to USA to get his knee totally rebuilt. Marius came back and despite being written of by a lot of people at the age of 31 is playing his best football for years and is top scorer in the Romanian championship. Hard work and your courage will get you through this, I will read your road to recovery on here with interest and I am sure you will come back stronger. Regards Steve

  3. Best wishes Chris for a speedy recovery and your future football career. I can understand the pain and trauma you are going through as I injured my knee many years ago. That was just a local game and my career but pain is the same no mater what. I was at the game on Saturday when the incident happened but didn't have a good view (thankfully).
You will recover from this and you also have the support of the ICT fans.

I suffered a similar injury on the ski slopes in Western Canada some 29 years ago but could not take time off work to have a major surgery. So I had Arthroscopic surgical clean-up instead.I nearly had tears in my eyes as I read your description and recalled my experience... the terrible pain, devastation at the prospects of practically no more physical activity, etc.It may have finished all my sports activities except the indoor bike but I did recover and so will you. With expert care and surgery and time and with hard work you will be amazed at what you will accomplish. The very best for your future and kind regards.

  10. All the best from the green half of Edinburgh, Chris. Injuries are unfortunately part of the game for most players but at least at 26 you've got many years ahead to look forward to. Good luck and hope you're back soon.

Very sorry to hear of your misfortune to have another bad knee injury!
As a Hibs fan who appreciated your commitment to the club and your considerable efforts on behalf of the Club, I am sure that the same commitment to recovering from your injury will see you back playing in the SPL sooner than you think right now!
Stay focused on what you want to achieve in your rehab and climb all over the bad days of which I am sure there will be at least a few!
Take care Chris and all the best mate!
I'll read your blog with interest over the coming weeks and months!

  27. Now then big man , you just fucking keep your head together and do what you do best. you are a fit footballer, i can only imagine that right now you probably thinking the worst..but making this blog and allowing people to comment was a sensible decision. I watched you play all through your hibs career and i know you are made of strong stuff. i always considered you a consummate professional and i am sure you will appy the same dedication to your recovery. i remember you still putting in a shift with that daft bandage on yer hand for a whole season -i heard you smashed a window apprehending some fuckwits who stole yer sisters car. whatever the story was the fact you dug in and got on with it says a lot about your character. have a great xmas with your family and dont let this injury rule you. all the best hoggy..bob :)

  28. Hibs fan here. All the best Hoggy. A persons attitude towards dealing with injury has a strong bearing on the recovery outcome. Youll come out the other side of this fitter and stronger.

  39. Hi Chris,

Met you a couple of times in the past, not since Broonies halloween fancy dress party though.

Keep your head up and give the rehab the 120% you seem to give every time you walk out onto that football pitch, your gonna get through this and when you get back in that shirt you'll be a better player for it.

Hope to see you at easter road again soon, where you'll always be welcome.
